Verbena seedlings in Livingston Manor, NY
It’s April 1 in the Catskills; snow flurries fill the blue skies above. Local shop owners all asking, “Where is spring?” It will be here before we know. Much like our April State of Mind, Growing, the weather is transitioning, the season is changing, and pretty soon, all around us nature will come alive once again.
This month, our Magazine will focus on everything from New York State farming and agriculture to DIY plant-related activities (we will make every one of us green thumbs yet!) and a few real estate offerings that might “grow” on you. Exploring another angle of our Growing State of Mind, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, recognized as one of “America’s Most Entrepreneurial Colleges”, is the alma mater of several entrepreneurs who have gone on to launch and build huge national brands. We will be exploring those success stories, as well as the economic boom of nearby Montgomery County, coined “The Capital Region’s New Frontier: for small businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators, movers, shakers and history makers.” Be sure to follow along.
Our Marketplace is growing, too, and we are so grateful to be able to work with incredible makers from across New York State. Within the last month, we’ve welcomed The Bedford Life (adorable hand-sewn children’s aprons), Bobby Sharp Glassworks (stunning handblown drink and barware), Eighth Belle (accessories made from sails), SO Handmade (eco-friendly children’s toys), Stuck in the Mud Pottery (handmade pottery), and Sol Cacao (craft chocolate). We love discovering new makers and expanding our offerings. If you are a maker, or know a New York maker we should work with, feel free to email us at Marketplace@NewYorkMakers.com!
