1. CROWN MAPLE'S AMBER COLOR MAPLE SYRUP
Why it's the best: Recently I started using maple syrup in and on just about everything: coffee, breakfast toast (toasted sourdough hidden under a thick layer of McGrath Fresco cheese and thinly sliced Honeycrisp apples topped with a drizzle of maple syrup), roasted fall vegetables, even a bit mixed with hot sauce for tacos! Hungry now? In my opinion, it's best used in small doses for the perfect amount of sweetness.
2. FOUND MY ANIMAL'S DOG WATER BOWL IN ORANGE & BROWN
Why it's the best: Ditch the Tupperware container, plastic bottle cap and whatever other MacGyver-ed vessel you were using on long walks. Your dog deserves better! I love this bowl for a few reasons: 1) It's hands-free! There is an ingenious-designed hook for your belt loop. 2) It's bright. If you are anything like me (I lose everything), you will need colorful products that catch your eye (you know...especially in those "storage" closets at home). 3) It's adorned with a brass "Found" tag. I have a soft spot in my heart for people who rescue their animals and companies who work with and support animal rescue organizations too!
3. THE HUDSON STANDARD'S APPLE CORIANDER MAPLE SHRUB
Why it's the best: I don't always eat healthy and so "spiking" my seltzer with a shrub is my daily routine. The base of the shrub — apple cider vinegar — has many health benefits including fighting bacteria, lowering cholesterol, easing acid reflux and more. Drinking apple cider vinegar on its own can be a bit harsh but when it tastes like apple, coriander, and maple syrup = sign me up.
4. JAY TESKE LEATHER CO.'S COASTER SET IN BROWN SMOOTH LEATHER
Why it's the best: Growing up I never understood why my mom had coasters stacked on her coffee table. As an adult with my own home, I completely get it now. I have mostly Mid-Century furniture and "water rings" are officially a pet peeve of mine. Not a problem anymore with these coasters. And they are a stylish compliment to my cherished Zenith stereo and record player console.
5. MICOL CERAMICS' PORCELAIN SITGES TREE DINNER PLATE
Why it's the best: Everyone lusts after this dinner plate. I promise it's even more gorgeous in person. It's all in the detail: From the scalloped edges to the original photograph of the bare tree (taken by Micòl herself), it's a conversation piece for a social dinner party. 6. WILL MOSES' LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW BOOK
Why it's the best: It's Halloween month and we all love a good scare. Plus it doesn't get more "New York" than this legend! I was visiting Sleep Hollow/Tarrytown a few weeks ago and the experience put me in the Halloween spirit. You will need to read this book to understand what I mean! On another note, the book's maker, Will Moses, is the great-grandson of legendary folk artist Grandma Moses. Now that's cool!
