“There’s no place like home,” says Dorothy as she clicks her ruby red heels in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (written by New York-born Frank Baum). “Home” can be one place or more — a house, a school, a workplace, a community, a hometown...It can be a partner or a family. And it can be more metaphysical — an inner space with no geography, a special celebration or ritual — such as the upcoming holidays — or a favorite activity, like reading, walking, listening to music. We each get to choose our own. Throughout November, we invite you to join us as we explore a New York “Home” State of Mind.
On the Magazine this month, look for our New York Makers Holiday Gift Guide, featuring thoughtful gifts to give the special people in your life — or to treat yourself! And, if you looking for unique holiday table decor and ideas to impress your houseguests, we’ve curated a beautiful collection here. Speaking of home decor, you won’t want to miss what David Cummings of Adirondack Kitchen has to say about his brand and how the concept of “home” plays a huge role in his products.
Also, stay tuned for some of our favorite DIY holiday crafts you can easily do at home, plus stories about Wegmans (we are obsessed!) and Just Water, two “homegrown” corporate heroes.
Lastly, we are beyond excited to announce New York Makers’ Pop Up plans for the holiday season! In NYC, we will be joining the Turnstyle Underground Holiday Market in the Columbus Circle subway station beginning November 15 all the way through December 31. Click here for the full details. Upstate, our Catskills-based Pop Up in Mountaindale, New York will continue to be going strong. Plus, we have a third Pop Up to be announced soon!
This November, be inspired to explore and experience more of your New York home, or if you reside out-of-state, let a special place in New York be your home away from home. We may be biased, but we believe there’s no place like our state!
