NEWS | Black Artists + Designers Guild: Creating an Inclusive Design Culture

Through April and May, New York Makers donated to organizations fighting the COVID-19 pandemic throughout New York State. Donations were activated when purchasers used a special code, plus with jewelry sales made in partnership with the Joan B. Hornig Foundation. This month, we turn our sights to a global collective that originated in Brooklyn.

Throughout June, customers who use code BADG, receive 10% off their purchase, plus an additional 5% will be donated to The Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG).

The Black Artists + Designers Guild was founded in 2018 by Malene Barnett, an artist based in Brooklyn, NY, to combat the lack of representation of Black talent and culture in the design industry.

BADG is a global platform representing a curated collective of independent Black artists, makers, and designers across various art and design disciplines who are at the top of their respective fields.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; all donations to BADG are 100% tax-deductible and support their mission to build a more equitable and inclusive creative culture by advancing a community of independent Black artists, makers, and designers in creative industries.
