#NYSOM Happy Hour: We believe in celebrating, and have a tradition of ending each work week with a New York State-inspired cocktail. Here's our guide to mixing and sipping The Basil Lemonade Rosé Wine Cocktail.
“The Basil Lemonade Rosé Wine Cocktail”
This week’s NYSOM cocktail recipe features Johnson Estate Winery, New York’s oldest estate winery, located in Chautauqua county. Made with their Chautauqua Blush wine, the Basil Lemonade Rosé Wine cocktail is just the excuse we need to sip summer’s preferred wine even after Labor Day has come and gone. Soak up these Indian Summer days with this delightful combination of rosé muddled with vodka, lemon and basil. Head to Johnson Estate Winery in Westfield, NY to pick up a bottle of their Blush wine, and visit their Spirits of New York Bar. Their tasting room is open daily, year-round from 10am until 6pm.
Ingredients:
- 5 oz. Chautauqua Blush wine from Johnson Estate Winery
- 1 oz. citrus vodka
- Simple syrup (optional)
- 2 large basil leaves, roughly torn
- 1 lemon wedge
- Ice
Directions:
Place basil and lemon in a glass and muddle (i.e. mash) well. Fill glass with ice, then add rosé and citrus vodka. Stir. Add simple syrup, if desired. Serve in a cocktail glass.
Need new cocktail glasses? Serve these up in Tom Stoenner’s hand-blown tumblers for wine, available on the NYSOM Marketplace.
