MEET THE MAKERS OF NEW YORK MAKERS
The story of SerendipiTea mirrors the circuity of the migratory patterns of the history of tea itself. Linda Villano, a third-generation New Yorker, founded the company in 1995 on Manhattan's Upper West Side. She and her late husband, Tomislav Podreka, would ascend and descend the five flights of stairs that led to their apartment-cum-office. As the company grew, the office was relocated to Long Island City, Queens, and eventually settled in Manhasset, where headquarters remain to this day.
Linda's artisanal blends are magnificent: a delight to all the senses. Each of her recipes (and there are many) are created in-house, and blending and packaging (using biodegradable, recycled packaging) is done on-site and by hand. Providing jobs for New Yorkers, as well as abiding by organic, environmentally and socially responsible practices is as important to Linda as is the tea.
