Cheyenne Mallo Pottery is a pottery duo (Cheyenne Mallo and Zac Schiff) who make functional, handmade pots and tiles that feature topographic map designs of hiking trails, mountains, and rivers. Their studio is located in New York’s Hudson Valley at the base of the Catskill Mountains.
Cheyenne and Zac make pots intended for everyday use, using food-safe glazes. Most pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe, though hand washing may increase longevity. They work primarily with a porcelain clay body, and fire their work in an electric kiln to cone 6.
Cheyenne received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. She moved from Wisconsin to the Hudson Valley in 2011, where she established Cheyenne Mallo Pottery and began to incorporate topographic maps onto her handmade pottery and tiles. Cheyenne was joined in 2019 by Zac Schiff, and today the pair manage the day to day operations of the studio together.
