"My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23. When she came to me one day telling me about a bump in her breast, I did not worry as we have no family history. Without touching it, I casually recommended her to mention it to her gynecologist, who herself thought it was nothing to worry about.
Four months later when she told me that she was a little worried as the bump had grown in size and was hard, I decided to touch it and feel it and when I did, my heart sank. It was like something I had never felt before. I knew it was not normal. I took her the same day to my radiologist who decided as a precaution to take a biopsy. It was confirmed the next day that it was indeed cancer.
Who would have thought that breast cancer can happen to a 23 year old with no family history? Well it did and unfortunately it is happening more frequently. We were lucky with all the help we got and it is a privilege to be able to pay it forward. Our daughters need to know, all girls need to know and I am hopeful that this small campaign will help provide funding for medical, wellness, and beauty services to other women under the age of 40 that have been diagnosed with breast cancer."
