#DrinkNY: Chocolate Beer Shake

#NYSOM Happy Hour: We believe in celebrating, and have a tradition of ending each work week with a New York State-inspired cocktail. Here's our guide to mixing and sipping The Chocolate Stout Beer Shake.

“The Chocolate Stout Beer Shake”

A beer milkshake? Why not! This week’s cocktail is the most indulgent one yet, and it brings the classic (root) beer float to a whole new level. The secret is combining chocolate ice cream — opt for a premium, higher fat ice cream to ensure your shake is thicker and full of flavor — with chocolate (er, Choklat) beer from Southern Tier Brewery. Now, you can have your dessert — and drink it, too. Just remember to sip slowly, and have a spoon on hand. Ingredients: Directions: Add cold beer to blender container (use 3/4 cup for a thicker shake or 1 cup for a thinner shake). Scoop ice cream into blender container. Blend until smooth, stopping blender and scraping down sides as needed. Pour into Tom Stoenner’s large drinking glasses. Recipe makes two shakes (about three cups total). Prefer your recipes in hard copy? We created a printable version of The Chocolate Stout Beer Shake. Need new glasses? Don’t forget to serve these up in Tom Stoenner’s hand-blown tumblers, available on the NYSOM Marketplace.
